Joyce Carol Oates (1938-) is the most famous authoress in the contemporary US. With a careful and thoroughly revelation to the American society and a deep exploration of people's psychosomatic mind there, she has made a big contribution to the US literature. And the large numbers of literary outputs and literature experiments she has made also leave the world's literature works a big treasure.Taking the revelation and transcendency of sexual politics in the long novel Foxfire as an illustration to show the rebel to the traditional sexual politics in the book, Oates' reflection to the feminism, and her transcendental manifestation and final cause to the traditional sexual politics, the thesis focus on an analysis of the uniqueness and distinction of Oates's feminism thoughts.Besides Introduction and Conclusion, the thesis is divided into three chapters. A brief presentation of Oates's life, her outputs and their time, the study situation in and out, and the practical significance of this study can be seen in the Introduction. It also contains the notion of feminism, a summary of feminism activity history and the notion of sexual politics, which means the politics relations in sexual area, namely male's full control to female.Taking Foxfire as an illustration, chapter one summary the polt and the roles rebel to the traditional sexual politics. Foxfire was opposed by conservatives in the very beginning of publishing because of the female roles rebel, independence, violence character and the homosexual trend. The girls in the novel have not bend their knee to male's power, but controlled their own life with the power of female's unity.Chapter two focus on Oates thoughts on mainstream feminism, esp. on radical feminism. Since violence is a basic subject contained in Oates works, she has a very profound understanding about it. Although female always suffer violence from male, they have the trend to use violence as well, and even conceive and issue it. Oates points out that all the female, no matter what nation, class and race they are, should get together with the acceptance and understanding since only in this case, it is necessary to achieve female's united front.Chapter three studies Oates growing up experience and analysis the representation and final cause of her rebel to the traditional sexual politics. Oates do not change her thoughts because of attacks outside. Oates also win lots surprise from male because of her crazy and professional about box, and her diligent in writing also win her lots admiration, no less than other male authors. All her contribution has close connection with her unique family background, growing up experience and her own characteristics. In the end, Oates attention on contemporary female's living situation is only part of her attention. She in not a partisan of feminism, but a rational author full of her own conceive and understanding, full of distinct perception of the way of female's beatific life, and all her works have not decided by the sexual factor. In conclusion, Oates is a marked individual author with high reputation and accomplishment.
