The paper will interpret the Chinese American novel Bone, which explores the life and the inner feelings of the three generations of Chinese people who live in the margins of cultures, bearing the great pressures and sense of loss. They live without security and the sense of belonging, just like the spectres wandering between two cultures. Derrida is a master of deconstruction, whose Hauntology is particularly useful in analyzing the Chinese American Literature. It will leave more free and open space to the readers to memorize the bitter history in the past. The first part of the paper introduces Fae Myenne Ng (Wu Huiming) and her novel Bone. The second section uses the deconstructive perspective of Hauntology to analyze the hardships of Chinese American throughout their life. In the third part, the novel is interpreted in terms of the tragedy elements, such as the paper son and the suicide of second daughter by the concept of differance of Hauntology. The forth part continues to apply Derrida's viewpoint to analyze the effort of the first daughter Leila, who struggles to overcome the dilemma and to set up a new position of Chinese Americans. The last part will give a conclusion of the thesis.Through the study, the author finds that Derrida's Hauntology will help the readers break the conventional manner of thought and the description of the history in analyzing the novel. By this way, the readers can better understand the tragic story and the bitter life narrated in the novel.
