As early as 1996, Wang Dazhong, the president of Tsinhua University, first proposed an establishment of modern distance education network. With the development of science and technology, it is necessary for us to further one's studies. It has become a trend that education in the world is developing towards to lifelong education and lifelong learning. With the arrival of the age of knowledge economy, more and more adults have to enter college to widen the horizon. The statistics from Ministry of Education in 2006 Development Planning Division has indicated that there is a total of 81.5 million adult college graduates from Adult Schools in the country, 88.5 million college graduates from the network universities. The total number is 170 million which constitutes about 45% of the number of college graduates. They want to do well in their studies but they find it difficult for them to keep up with their studies by themselves, especially in English learning. They want to get help from their teachers and peers. Cooperative learning refers to an educational practice that bases on the students'psychological needs and sets an atmosphere of democratic teaching. The students can achieve some certain tasks with the help of their teachers and peers. With joint efforts of students and teachers and the interaction of relevant guidance and other activities by their teachers, the students can finally get oral, written or other forms of products in the process of cooperation. Cooperative learning group is the basic form of organization.We should take the characters of adult students into consideration. Most of them want to further their studies to get what they want: knowledge and degree. Most of them are married and have to take responsibilities for their families. They have to work hard and become a responsible breadwinner. As a student, any student has to keep up with and take notes what the teacher said in class. Since everyone's energy is limited, they may be not able to cope with their work and their studies. They need to find a more efficient and easier learning method. They have to balance the relationship between studies and work. As a student, he or she can learn by himself or herself at any time as long as he or she has an access to the internet. After all, in this context, cooperative language learning through internet comes into existence. Cooperative learning is the core task of different levels of learners in the process of exchange, communication and cooperation. Many methods are mentioned in the paper. The thesis aims to explore the effectiveness of the implementation of Team Learning in Adult English learning of Shanghai TV University, i.e. whether Team Learning can promote English learning of team members, improve relationship between each other and enhance the ability of communication and cooperation. The author has found that Team Learning in Adult English learning through the internet can greatly help to promote students'English Learning, and to some extent, improve relationship between each other and enhance their abilities of communication and cooperation. Based on analysis of the study results, the author summed up some effective strategies of Team Learning; in order to activate students'interest in English, improve students'autonomous learning, cooperative awareness and abilities so as to promote the English teaching and learning quality. With the use of internet, they can surf on the internet and get what the teachers uploaded to the internet. They also chat and discuss with their classmates through the internet. The paper just discusses the feasibilities and practice of cooperative learning in English through the internet. The author also thinks that the teachers should make some adjustments in learning contents, collaboration skills, learning strategies and other aspects, but also to strengthen the management of network resources, while teachers should also attach importance to assessment and evaluation and assessment mechanisms. Based on the analysis of cooperative groups of students, the author sum up the group cooperative learning strategies effectively on the web to enhance the overall level of students, and elaborate classroom strategies to us.
