English scenic spot introduction words have become a trend, and it is widely used in everyday life. With the booming of tourism, English scenic spot introduction words are becoming more and more important. This thesis will make a tentative endeavor to apply the functional and generic approach to make a comprehensive survey of English scenic spot introduction words.For the sake of authority of the data, all the texts are downloaded from the website:http://www.examda.com/dy/tool/dyc/The research is mainly a manual study on the research of domestic English scenic spot introduction words, which is based on the theoretical framework of Systemic-Functional and genre analysis. In this paper, qualitative and quantitative analytical methods are adopted; the author will illustrate and demonstrate the frequencies and distributions of each linguistic element occurring in English scenic spot introduction words. In the analysis, the author will make a statistical analysis on the transitivity system, mood and modality system, thematic structure and cohesive system.After the study on the research of domestic English scenic spot introduction words, the result shows that in the study of ideational metafunction, the highest frequency use is material process, while relational process and mental process also appear with a high frequency. As to voice analysis, active voice is more than passive voice. In interpersonal metafunction research, declarative mood plays the superior role, and the frequency of modality in English scenic spot introduction words is low. As for tense, present tense is more used, sometimes the past tense also used, but future tense is seldom used. In the study of textual metafunction, unmarked themes are used more than marked ones. In cohesive system, reference, conjunction is widely used. Then, following Swales and Bhatia's move model, the author found that there were seven structural moves in English scenic spot introduction words. According to the occurrence frequency, two moves were considered obligatory and five were optional in English scenic spot introduction words. What's more, based on Hasan's GSP (Generic Structural Potential), the GSP of English scenic spot introduction words is figured out, which further demonstrates the feature of English scenic spot introduction words from the sequence of the moves in the text.
