Stephen Crane being born in the last period of the nineteenth century, is a writer at the turn of the century, he is noted as a Naturalistic writer. This thesis intends to conclude the modernist elements in Stephen Crane's works, including Crane's best novel The Red Badge of Courage, two short stories, "The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky" and "The Blue Hotel", aims to prove that Stephen Crane is not only a noted Naturalist writer, but also can be called a Modernist writer.The modernist elements in Stephen Crane's works concluded in this thesis includes the third-person point of view, space of expression, stream of consciousness, the method of utilizing the symbols of symbolism, and the images and colors of Impressionism...
