This paper tends to explore the effects of output hypothesis on the acquisition of English participial adverbials. This study includes pretest, experiment, and two post tests. This experimental study includes 50 freshmen participants who major in Information Engineering and Vehicle Engineering at Jincheng College. There are two groups: the control group and the experimental group. They are divided into two groups according to their natural class with 25 participants in each group. In order to ensure the validity, both groups took the pretest. During four weeks'experiment, both groups received input of English participial adverbials. The difference is that the experimental group also produced output, while the control group didn't. After experiment, both groups received post test one and two. Data collected in the tests were analyzed by SPSS13.0 and percentage. The experiment results prove that output can improve the acquisition of English participial adverbials, not only in comprehensive level but also in different types. Output can also improve the use frequency of the target form. However, because of the difference between Chinese and English, participants did the best in participial adverbial of complement. Output can facilitate the acquisition of syntactic pattern, so English teaching and learning should focus on the combination of target language and language output task and also do some output exercises to improve the second language acquisition.
