Recently, Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) has been widely used as teaching and learning material. According to the analysis of Chinese language teaching and learning as well as the needs of Chinese teachers in Thailand, the researcher was interested studying the opinions and the knowledge of Chinese teachers in Thailand on using Computer Assisted Chinese Learning (CACL). The research aimed at Chinese Language Teaching patterns and methods and at the Computer Assisted Chinese Learning in Chinese Language Teaching accordingly.Development on Chinese language teachers training and studies on Chinese language teachers'attitudes towards using Computer Assisted Chinese Learning were considered the first conditions leading to improvement of teachers'knowledge and abilities. However, it was difficult to expect only positive results. Although this study was conducted using theoretical based research method, the complications of knowledge and abilities illustrated the uses of other research methods to reflect the findings. A survey using the questionnaire asking teachers on their knowledge and abilities on using of CACL to assist teaching and learning Chinese in Thailand was also included in this studyIn this study, the questionnaire and the interviews were randomly administered to Chinese teachers in Thailand. The objectives of the study were to investigate; 1) the use of CACL at the university level in Thailand; 2) Levels of Chinese language teachers'knowledge in using CACL and levels of teachers'and students'interrelation in the classroom; and 3) factors effected Chinese language teachers'needs for trainings on using CACL.The analysis and conclusions on Chinese language teachers'knowledge of using CACL drew from the survey and the interviews on their attitudes. The interviews included asking teachers'experiences in teaching Chinese in Thailand, current models of teaching Chinese in Thailand and teachers'knowledge and abilities that would lead to the classroom practice which would well propose policies and action plans in using CACL in Thailand. The results from the study illustrate the use of CACL at the university level in Thailand, Chinese language teachers'needs for trainings on the use of CACL, and levels of Chinese language teachers'knowledge on using CACL as well as their classroom interrelation with the students. CACL could improve Chinese language teaching and learning in Thailand and could help increasing research capacity in Chinese teaching and learning models. The researcher hopes this study could result in highlighting the importance of CACL. Time and budget limitations might have affected the scale of materials and research methods which the researcher will seek development in further studies.
