The subject of this thesis is a research on compositions which are relevant to Naxi's folk music and culture. The study is primarily based on an analysis of three compositions:Feng Tian's orchestral and choir:A Mosuo Funeral, Mingxin Du's orchestral:Bagua (Eight Trigrams) and Xiaoou Hu's string quartet:Moxie.It consists of three chapters. Chapter 1:Introduction of Naxi ethnic group's history and culture and features of Naxi folk music. The writer summed up the special characteristics of Naxi folk music, its historical roots, and its inspiration sources. Chapter 2:An analysis of three pieces compositions. A definition of the music composition techniques being employed, and how these three pieces, although using different techniques, inherently contain Naxi's music and culture elements. Chapter 3:A disscussion of the three different techniques being used in above mentioned compositions and the current challenges in contemporary Naxi music composition.
