Research Of Yang Shen's Ancient Phonology

Yang Shen is a famous writer, scholar of ming dynsty. He had written seven books to research ancient Phonology.He critically received research results of Song dynsty scholars. His achievement made an implication for scholars of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. he played an important role in the history of ancient Phonology. In this paper, we make a more comprehensive analysis and research from thinking, content, method of Yang Shen′s ancient Phonology .In ideology of the ancient phonology, Yang Shen had recognized that there was a different between the ancient sounds and modern pronunciation of a Chinese character and that dialects also kept the original sound. He found out that Zhu Xi's"xie yin shuo" was worry and openly opposed it. Meanwhile, in order to correct researchers'mistakes about changing sound of a character at will, Yang Shen proposed a theory Conversion of ancient Phonology. He realized that he obtained the meaning from ancient sound of character, and together rhyme of poems and research by researching ancient sounds, this is a very practical view of the ancient sounds too.In content of the ancient phonology, first of all, in order to research every words'pronunciation, Yang Shen proposed a series of ancient sound, which contain more information of ancient labials, such as there was no light labials and Tongue tone in ancient time ,"zhao er gui jing","yu si gu du ding".In the ancient Rhyme Division, Yang Shen research ancient Rhymes by "Ping shui rhyme ", and combined it with a view to the phonological rhyme department, contained information on"yin yang dui zhuan". Additionally, Yang Shen had written a special book to study ancient poems of rhyme cases, he cited several general and unusual rhyme cases.On methods of the ancient Phonology, Shen consciously research ancient sounds based on the material such as dialect, different culture, ancient pronunciations, sound training, harmonic sound, place names and personal names which can reflect the ancient sounds, trying to research it in various of methods. The post- research methods inspired the other people.In addition, there are obvious shortcomings of the study Pronunciations of Yang Shen ,such as : his ancient phonology ideology can not form a system, just some scattered thesis; individual words sound wrong to be studied on the department also rhyme with"Ping shui rhyme " as the hub of the rhyme combined basis of classical Chinese, there are many constraints in the in the analysis of ancient poetry rhyme rules, then there is choice of materials is not refined, changed audio requirements into the rhyme and style of different issues.In summary, the Achievement of Yang Shen in Pronunciations is major but disadvantages and shortcomings are minor. He inherited the Song and Yuan scholars'research results, and inspired future generations in ideology, content and methods.
