During the 400 years form the 16th century to the 19th century, uncountable African immigrants poured into America as slaves. Their traditional culture and American culture were continuously struggling and melting with the features of complexity and profoundness. Morrison's Beloved, which was the production and representation of this combination of different culture, the important part of Afro-American culture, and the most authentic portrayal of black people culture in modern development of America, contained and presented tremendous cultural connotation and value of literary theory. This article takes a overall perspective analysing Morrison's Beloved by both cultural interpretation and poetic interpretation. The interpretation of the cultural value and poetic value of black people which contained in Beloved will be unfolded by four parts: Chapter one, "Beloved: background and cultural origin" tracing the background and cultural origin of Afro-American culture represented by Beloved from macroscopic view; Chapter two, "Identity transition and cultural transformation" detailedly analysing the surpassing construction of Afro-American cultural identity of Beloved, with comparison to several other typical works of African-American Literature from fore-and-aft view; Chapter three, "Beloved: subject and cultural motif" concretely discussing the inner attachment of the subject (pattern and connotation) with the motif of African culture and its application in the specific historical conditon of America; Chapter four, "Beloved: strategy and cultural blending" trying to reveal the cultural codes behind the structural pattern, the narrative perspective and the technique of expression of Beloved. These four parts above keep the discussion on the text of Beloved mainly, and interpret the universal "poetic" connotation and cultural value of Beloved systematically and comprehensively.
