Research Of Mencius's Travel

Mencius is a famous writer and thinker and educator who has an important influence on the development of China's feudal system. "Mencius" is a prose book of quotations that is used to record ideas of Mencius and dialogues with his disciples,such as Wan Zhang,Gongsun Chou and so on.Also it is an important work for researching Mencius and even Confuciancism.Nowadays,the studies of Mencius mainly focus on epistemology,educational thought and inspiration to the modern .According to the materials available,there are no comprehensive and special works about researching the calendar of Mencius in detail. Though some monographs involve all Mencius's life,they often just quote from someone else's discussion and few have specialized discussion.And this topic is a specialized research and the purpose is to show the previous studies comprehensively to the readers by comparing similarities and differences between various companies and arguing gain and loss between them. The thesis consists of four parts:Chapter I:Research of Mencius's birthplace. Firstly,the paper summarizes previous points on the birthplace of Mencius. In the process of the summaring, I try to refute some false points.Via my research,I think that Mencius was born in Lu,and after the age of 20,he lost his father,then moved to Zou with his mother.What's more,I discuss some other issues,such as the date of Mencius's father's death,the time of Mencius's moving to Zou, the birthplace that Mencius was born in Lu,and the settlement after moving to Zou.Chapter II:Research of Mencius's travel in Liang. Section one is a synthesis of previous research results about the date of Mencius's reaching Liang. Section two are some points about the age of Mencius's traveling in Liang and the address he chosen entering Liang.The third section is the research on the time Mencius went to and left Liang. Section four is my conclusion that Mencius went to and left Liang in the year of 320 BC,rather than the year of 219 BC that the modern advocates.Chapter III: Research of Mencius's travel in Qi. This chapter begins with the discussion on the issue that Mencius first travelled to Qi or first to Liang. Sections two and three respectively do some research on whether Mencius travelled to Qi in the period of Emperor WEI and Xuan.Then I draw a conclusion that Mencius ever visited Qi in Emperor WEI, while in Xuan he went to Qi three times.Chapter IV: The time of Mencius in the country of Lu,Teng and Song.This chapter includes three parts.According to the funeral of Mencius's mother,I have determined the time Mencius in Lu.And I set the period between 320 BC and 318 BC.Then from" Qi will build Xue," I come to the time Mencius in Teng.I set the period between 322 BC and 320 BC.And in section three I first re-arrange the Song's era that recorded in "Historical Records".On this basis,I have got the right time Mencius in Song,that is, 322 BC and 312 BC,in which Mencius travelled to Song one time each.
