The rapid development of Internet has increasingly influenced all areas of human lives. It has been a fashion to use network-language nowadays. Network-language is a linguistic phenomenon. The development and change of Chinese vocabualry system in current period of society transition can be seen by studying network-language. Meanwhile, the network-language is also a popular cultural phenomenon. It has a significant feature of times and reflects the contemporary people's social life, ideology and mentality more directly and sensitively. It embodies cultural development, change and innovation of modern soceity. Network-language has deep and rich linguistic and socio-cultural values.Youngsters constitute the large proportion of Internet users and the quantity of them is increasing now. How to guide and regulate youngsters who use an amount of network-language has become the common concern of schools, parents and teachers. Based on the existing researches, this study adopts research methods composed of questionnaire survey literature searching and field interview. Based on the statistic data and interview transcript and combined the theory with the reality, this study investigates the status quo of youngsters's using network-language and examines the positive and negative effects of it objectively and impartially and puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions in the hope that youngsters, schools and parents can get reference from them. The results of this study also provide some data and supplements for experts and scholars to study network-language further afterwards. In addition, to some extent, the study results provide some references for authorities to make decisions and properly treat and use the double-edged sword—network-language.This research consists of five parts:Part One formulates the research background and significance. It consists of the literature review of network-language research status quo, research method and the significance of the research. Part Two explains related theories of network-language. Part Three investigates and analyzes the status quo of youngsters'using network-language. Part Four formulates the positive and negative effects of network-language to youngsters'language use based on the results of survey and analysis. Part Five puts forwards some suggestions about guiding youngsters to grasp and use network-language properly.
