DuGang is a novelist of Qing Dynasty. He lived in KunShan of JiangSu Provice. He wrote there fictions in his whole life, which is Yu Mu Xing Xin Bian, Bei Shi Yan Yi and Nan Shi Yan Yi. Through surveying his friends' information, this article proved that DuGang was born in 1742 or before. Yu Mu Xing Xin Bian is a vernacular classical fiction. It inherited the tradition of classical fiction that call for good and fight for evil. It created a kind of different system for the vernacular classical fiction. The story of this book was taken from the true life and which took place in JiangSu Provice. This make the story hold the bright time spirit and the regional characteristic. The writer narrated smoothly. Bei Shi Yan Yi and Nan Shi Yan Yi are history fiction. The writer inherited the writing tendency of old history fiction that keep historical fact and emphasized the popularization. It adopted the way of other fictions and made fit art romance. In order to narrate history, the writer narrated the character biography according to the annals. When history fiction and the vernacular classical fiction tended to become decline, his fictions keep the original spirit and established the important status.
