In the sporting thought system of China, though of sporting ethic was very rich and played an important part. However, it was a pity that people have not systematicalited and generalized it until recently. With the development of the research on sporting thought, the importance of sporting ethic thought is recognized more and more. Besides, research on sporting ethic is very important in the construction of socialistic sporting spiritual civilization. Therefore, this paper is written.In this paper, the researcher first explains some central words about sporting ethic, sporting moral, and sporting ethic. People often confuse moral and ethic, because in the west, the origins of the two words are the same, while in China, especially of the ancient China, they are different words, To be concrete, moral is part of ethic, and similarly, sporting moral is part of sporting ethic.Basing on the explanation of those central words, chronologically, the researcher concretely talks about the sporting ethic thought in Pre-Qin period, early, middle and late feudalistic periods separately. Thought should be rooted in the society, so the sporting ethic thought not only had close relationship with the social background, but also was deeply influenced by the mainstream ethic thought then. Thus, the researcher first at that time, then deals with the concrete phenomena of sports, and finally summarizes the representative thought of sporting ethic of each period.At the conclusion of the paper, the researcher analyses the relationship between sporting ethic thought and Chinese traditional culture, and summarizes the characteristics of sporting ethic thought in ancient China. After dealing with the sporting ethic though in different periods in history, the researcher gives the generalization about the sporting ethic thought in ancient China as a whole.
