Impression" or "Impressionism" appeared in the latter half of the 19th century in France. It war a very important transition point in western art history, and continued the previous era, also leading to the modern era. Paintings of impressionism are realistic but not dull; they are creative but not strange. "The Language of Art" can easily approach people, inheriting the past few centuries tradition of realistic painting, also demonstrating the specialties of light and color. It's appearance had an important impact on not only French paintings, but also paintings in the rest of the world. Form then on, the traditional expression of art, especially of traditional oil paintings, experienced the popular spread of something never seen before. Impressionist artists were more daring than previous artists to abandon the bondage of traditional expression, beginning to reestablish and investigate the expression and technique of art. The goal of impressionist artists was to pursue a realistic view of an unbiased natural expression, and was the continuation of realism in western oil painting, but the change of method in vision strongly emphasizes coloring, contrarily disrupting objective expression. This caused the change in people's viewing habits, enriching people's viewing experience, creating a new model for viewing, and opening the gate of modern art. Later impressionism, also including Paul Cezanne, Vincent Vangogh, Paul gauguin, increasingly destroyed the past traditional painting style in western Europe. In this basis, Various modernist artists appear again using different painting attitudes to understand the new levels of this world. There was a new feature in art expression, as a result, through the rediscovery of impressionism, We can say impressionism is the termination of traditional art, and the origin of modern art. This report has compared the inheritance and development of impressionism, traditionalism, modernism in art, and also to study the change in viewing techniques, expecting to rediscover the valve and highlight impressionism in art history.
