This essay begins with the academic and realistic significance of researching the Chinese traditional economic-ethical thought of Confucianism. Firstly, the author analyzes the origin and preliminary development of economic-ethical thought of Confucianism before the Pre-Qin period. Secondly, the author researches the historical changes and its three characteristics of economic-ethical thought of Confucianism from Pre-Qin period to Han, Song, Ming, Qing dynasties, emphasizes the agriculture and restrains the business, insists the justice and the public benefit, thinks much of people. According to the historical background of natural economy in china for several thousand years, the author makes a deep study on the four fields of production, distribution, consumption and exchange, whoseVfeatures are respectively diligence, fairness, frugality and credibility. In addition, this essay also points out the feasibility of changing the economic-ethical thought of Confucianism in a creative way in the new era, if we conform to three relationships to actualize the creative conversion, which are the relationship of historical inheritance and moral objectivity, the contradiction and interlinkage relationship of different cultural backgrounds, the relationship between the construction of ethics and the regeneration of system. The essay also researches the creative changing experience of the countries in East Asia, so as to offer the valuable resources to the ethical construction of Socialist market economy, Finally, the modern significances of economic-ethical thought of Confucianism are given, such as, thinking much of people, constantly striving to become stronger, insisting the justice and the common benefit, credibility, diligence, sticking by one's career, humanity, the amalgamation of nature and human.
