William Faulkner, the most important and the leading figure of the American Southern writers, was a great and successful avant-garde experimenter in modern literary techniques. His achievement as a novelist is to a great extent due to his narrative techniques, narrative structure, gothic technique, the application of symbolism, and his famous Southern Grotesque Style. This paper makes an attempt at analyzing of such Faulkner's innovative literary techniques and his great contributions to the modern literature.
