Oral communication is one of the important parts of the multi-sided business exchanges. In foreign trade and economic activities,one needs not only to skillfully grasp knowledge of trade and business customs,but also to flexibly utilize spoken English for trade and economics in order better to exchange ideas and information with foreigners. To enhance the effectiveness of the conversation and achieve the expected goal requires learners to master the features and practical applications of spoken English for trade and economics in various international business activities on the basis of knowing and observing conversational principles to fulfil the task of communication. Therefore,spoken English for trade and economics should be given particular attention for its specialty to indicate the features of this register. To analyze this land of spoken English well,I try to compare the data and results from SETE with those from other corpora including LOBA,BROWNA,CEB4,NEC,MEE,and MTE. This thesis aims at making a computerized quantitative analysis of spoken English for trade and economics hi lexical,syntactical,and discoursal respects,which can provide corpus-based statistic materials for future teaching and book compilation.
