In this study, after research methods and theories on metamemory were reviewed, following the research model of RJR (Recall-Judgment-Recognizition) introduced by Hart, we conducted two experiments to verify two heuristics of feeling of knowing(FOK) i.e. the cue-familiarity heuristic and the target-retrievability heuristic. The design of experiment 1 was single factor repeated measure design. The factor was four levels materials (Chinese-Chinese, English-Chinese, Chinese-English, English-English). The design of experiment 2 was double factors repeated measure design and the two factors were two levels of experiment material and two levels of showing-style (2x2). The results of both the experiments showed each of above two heuristics was unilateral and the FOK judgment ratings made by subjects depended on the connection of the cue and the target. On the basis of further discussion, we thought the cue or target information indeed affected the FOK judgment ratings by the connection of cue and target.
