Exploration Of The Reason For The Flourish Of Music In Tang Dynasty

At present, there is a great deal of study on the development of music in Tang Dynasty. They are different from each other in angle and domain. And in fact, when it comes to the reasons for the flourish of music in Tang, we will see two kinds of circs: one is that the reasons are mentioned summarily in Chinese music history works. Another appears as a circumstantial evidence when the author is expounding other subjects. There is a common character in these circs: the reason is not expounded specially, just ignored This dissertation tries to explain the external reasons and the subjective reasons and to show the inner clew by citing many credible historic materials.The dissertation consists of four parts. First, introduces the general situation about musk in Tang Dynasty and the achievements on the reason for it. Second, how the economic and politic reasons exert in promoting the development of music in Tang. The third part expatiates the subjective reasons in music notion by citing a great number of historic materials, and this part is the emphasis of this dissertation. The last part testifies the legitimacy of above reasons with con experience in Chinese music history and then point out the important enlighten to our present music research.
