This dissertation is mainly to introduce an effective reading model-Interactive Model, and its application to non-major College English Intensive Reading Class. It begins with discussions on the nature of reading process, which demonstrates how Interactive Model reveals the essence of reading activities. Based on this approach, some suggestions or strategies are developed and elaborated for the college English reading teachers which are concerned with the following aspects: correct understanding of reading action in such a class; appropriate aids for students on their way to be an independent efficient reader and therefore to be an successful language learner; and above all, the scientific design of an efficient intensive reading class through Interactive Model. At the end of the essay, an experimental study of the application of Interactive Model is presented, in order to assess its achievements in the respects of language competence and comprehension abilities through the comparison with other presented Reading Models.
