Ding Ling is an authoress with a strong hope of self-renewal. Having gone twice through great transitions and characteristically formed three stages before liberation, her literature creation has become the thought provoking "Ding Ling phenomenon" in Chinese new literature history.Scholars of domestic or international academies have made some helpful explorations on this phenomenon, lacking of a cross-cultural perspective, still remains within the range of the history of Chinese modern literature. In fact, the embryonic form of authoress' egos or personality is wholly portrayed, to a great extent, by western literature. At every stage of Ding Ling's creation, these influences, filtering through reality, tradition and culture psychology of authoress herself, were transformed into a new theme, a new personage and new skill of creation, which is fully embodied in her works.I think that, not only affected by the historical condition of the specific period, but also related to her personality and individual experience, "Ding Ling phenomenon" as a complicated culture one evolves from a special background in which the culture collision between Chinese and the west in modern times has happened. The paper tries to begin with the different influences the western literature has conduct upon Ding Ling's every creation stages, so as to comb comprehensively the relationship between Ding Ling and foreign literature, and meanwhile make a more rational, profound and overall explanation.
