One of the most important functions of language is the interpersonal one. People use language to interact and set up appropriate relationship between them. The purpose of the present research is to probe into the interpersonal meaning of English recruitment advertising texts from the approach of systemic functional grammar. 31 pieces of recruitment advertising texts have been collected from the recruiting websites of some Global 500 corporations to carry out the research work. Three linguistic patterns: mood, modality and pronoun systems of the target texts have been studied respectively. The present study demonstrates the close relationship between interpersonal meaning of language and various lexico-grammatical patterns. It is found that the manipulation of different mood structures enables the interaction between the writer and the reader; modal expressions serving as emotional appeals and politeness strategy enhance interpersonal relationship between the writer and the reader; the use of pronouns facilitates the negotiation and sets up close relationship between the writer and the reader.
