In the works of the earlier period, Ding Ling projected her abundant perceptual life into her works. It makes her early works present the intense subjectivity of the author and the characters. This paper tries to hold entirely the characteristic of the writer' s subjectivity. It both pays attention to the microcosmic analysis of the texts, and also emphasizes the psychological study of the writer herself. From the standpoint of aesthetics and psychology, it discusses the spiritual property of the writer and its internal limit on her artistic creation and development. Thereby, we can know the peculiarity in Ding Ling' s early works and her personality sufficiently.Based on the text analysis, the paper discusses two aspects of the representation of the subjectivity of Ding Ling' s early works from the standpoint of "ego" (the author and the characters). The creative subjectivity is the property of humane as spiritual subject. The first part analyses intensively Ding Ling' s self-consciousness which permeated into her novels and made her novel structure present the tendency of the " dialogical property " and represent the. characteristics of the contradictory and conflicted "ego" . It mostly discusses the two aspects of the dialogical property of the novel structure: firstly, the dialogue between two kinds of civilizations (tradition and modernity) ; secondly, the dialogue between two kinds of worlds (emotion and rationality). The second part specifically analyses the presentation of the "ego" of the compound melody which is based on the inherent emotional tone in Ding Ling' s early works: the co-existence of Ding Ling' s spirit of the optimistic feelings and tragic consciousness in her early works, which is originated from her inner enthusiasm. They are both opposite, and complementary to each other, and unite inherently in the texts, thereby make the novels show historica] depth. When analyzing the tragic consciousness, the thesis emphatically discusses its three facets: the consciousness of death, the sense.of loneliness, the consciousness of vexation. It is just the recognition, perception and comprehension of the tragic property by the heroines themselves that made their spiritual pursuit and existing ideal have the aesthetic value of tragedy.Based on the analysis of the above parts, the last part sums up the modern self-consciousness, which is the key to Ding Ling' s creative subjectivity. In a word, the most basic characteristics of the subjectivity in Ding Ling' s early works is the following: the contradictory author and heroines (the contradictory "ego" ), and theintense modern self-consciousness -- genuine pursuit of therealization of individual life, which was reflected by the painful and desperate struggle and fight rooted in contradiction. Ding Ling's contradictory aesthetical realm in her early works gives us an unspeakable aesthetical experience. Discussing the topics has the practical value for the investigation of her novels' change and development, as well as the same literary phenomena.
