The early reform-group' mercantilism had been presented at the late of the 19th century when the old economic thinking had collapsed and the new one didn't be built during the transformation from an agriculture country to an industry country. Its' evolution and its' probe into the mode of modern production manifest that the early reform-group's mercantilism is great important to the frame of the modern economic thinking.To support this thesis, the paper is developed into four major parts:The first part analyze the causes that the mercantilist ideas of the early reform-group appeared in modern china. I think the condition of international trade and the rise suddenly of modern commercial capital is its' economic environment. The thinking of jing-shi and foreign affairs is its' thought basis.The second part takes a sweeping view of the process of the mercantilist ideas' form and evolution. The mercantilist ideas made a stare at 1860s' and ended at 1890s'. It advocated that farm products must be commercialized. Then it advocated commerce must be most lofty. Finally, it discovered the importance of the modern industry. So I think it experienced such a process as initial form to ripe completely to self-overturn.The third part make the enlightenment as the angle of view, on the foundation that comb out the mercantilism ideas'basic connotation and put the mercantilism ideas into the background of society transformation, we can found the great enlightenment affect of the mercantilist ideas on economic values, machine building, industrial economy thinking and the theory of the international trade.The final part mainly sum up historical experience and summarize the reality inspiration.
