"X men(们) de (的) Y" is a commonly used form in contemporary Chinese. As a linguistic structure, it is a structural whole without the existence of "de (的) " . But when it is in a sentence, the issue of "de (的) " does appear. After a careful analysis and study of 540 cases of "X men(们) de(的) Y" according to the Theory of Three Aspects, the author of this paper has found out that the disappearance of "de(的) " has three impacts upon the sentence:1. the same with or without "de (的) " ; 2. different with or without "de(的) " ; 3. the "De (的) " is indispensable in a sentence. This complicated phenomenon is related to certain syntactic, semantic and pragmatic factors. In terms of syntax, this is related to Y' s sentence member; in terms of semantics, this is related to the semantic relationship between X men(们) and Y; and in terms of pragmatics, this is related to the context, and the purpose and intention of the speaker. But in linguistic practice, judgment about the use of "de (的) " must be based on all the three aspects, namely, - syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Only in this way can the study be more accurate and the result be more theoretically and practically valuable.
