As the key to New Confucianism, Liang Shuming, who faced the violent cultural conflict between the east and the west at the beginning of the twentieth century, the western knowledge entering into eastern world, the traditional culture breaking up gradually, and the crises caused by "moral loss, existing loss, metaphysical loss", deeply felt the heavy burden on him. This sacred sense of responsibility and strong concern for his own country and people made him duty-bound devote into the great discussion about the east-west culture at that time. Especially, his theory of "three periods reappearance of the world culture" demonstrated that he was sentimentally attached to the traditional culture and severely disgusted with the complete westernization. Also he clarified his culture perspective of the future world profoundly with a rational angle of view. The treatise, guided by the standpoint and method in Marxist, deeply explores and analyzes Liang's academic thoughts in a rational way, and holds an objective and practical and realistic attitude in a cool mind. By the analysis of the inner unification of the Confucianism and its thinking logic, the thesis illuminates the Confucianism culture can completely show its brand-new facial expression and vigorous vitality in its continuous fusion and melting with western culture and in its reconstruction. The Confucianism culture can play its responsive role in the process of today's modernization construction of Chinese characteristic socialism.
