| Although three critique-confused literary figures Hamlet Jia Baoyu Holden are created by writers who belong to different times, nations and languages, they show a surprising similar character mold. As we try to analyze the psychological system and cultural meaning of this type of character in background, we found that there is a most severe conflict, which makes them be representive of tragic humanity of our human being, between the pursuit of spirit(virtue) and impulse of instinct(beauty).In deal with humanitical phylosophy theories near our times, especially Max Scheler's , we draw a conclusion that conflict and harmony between virtue and beauty are the basic mold of our human being, which intimate gender diffences defind by our society and culture. According to psychoanalytical theories, this both-side character of three figures are formed in a mixture of excellent gift and fierce conflict of parents. The pursuit of virtue whereas adoration of beauty are causes of their characterical conflict and behavior confusion, their critical talent,Sympathy with human being, melancholy, lack of movement and society-culture-meaning life failure, are all based on this subconsciousness which contribute to their splendid type of character.
