Commodity economy as a historical category is not only an economicmode, but also is an important historical stage in the development of humanhistory according to Marx's historical stage theory. As a kind of culturalcategory in the structure of society, faith is on the most high level of specialvaluable pursuance which makes human being as a man; faith marks thathuman being affirms and possesses ideal valuables, symbolizes human beingexplores the basis of existence. Now, the biggest doubt to commodityeconomy is that people consider that commodity economy causes the faithcrisis by itself. In this paper, the author wants to select the faith contradictoriesin the commodity economy epoch as a perspective and inspects the featuresand sources of crisis of human faith pursuant in the commodity economyepoch to make clear the relations between the development of commodityeconomy and human being's faith pursuance and to help people recognizecurrentfaith crisis rationally. This paper consists of four parts. Part one is focused on the faith as the human being's cultural valuablepursuance. This part is made up of four questions. Firstly, the author defines the concept of faith and considers it exceedingnature which makes human being as a man. Its basic feature is to exceed thereality and aim to future. Human being is a kind of limited existence, but hepursues the infinity by nature. So human being can achieve ego transcendenceby faith pursuance and which makes faith the main distinction between humanbeing and animal. Secondly, by the analysis of the human nature basic of faith, the author thinks that faith comes from human being's special dualityexistence: practicality. The transcendence nature which faith pursues is theperformance of the practical ideal in the mind. Thirdly, in the cultural valuable 41perspective faith is the show of human being's valuable pursuance in the mosthigh level and ideal valuables. It is in the eternal call of the ideal valuables thathuman being could avoid depressions and degeneration and advance bravely. The focused show of faith pursuance in the culture is human being's Utopiaemotion. Finally, the author analysis the relation between faith and religion inthe cultural valuables and gets a conclusion that religion is only a kind of showof faith and religion acquires its full meaning through faith. Separated fromfaith, we could not understand religion. So, faith is more fundamental thanreligion. Part two is focused on analyzing the new features of faith pursuance inthe commodity economy epoch. This part is made up of three questions. The first change happened in theway of faith, which means faith transforms from unreality and ultra experienceto reality and secular life. Martin Luther understood "Sola Fida"and "calling"in a new way in the Religion Reform and emphasized the values of labor in thereality and every day life. This reform transformed human being's emphasisfrom unreal "doomsday trial"and "next life"to "this life". The second changehappened in the target of faith, which means human being begin to believeman existed as subject and refute sacred God. Commodity economy hasdeveloped human being's subject consciousness and encouraged human beingto realize self valuables. So, it is free and independent individual that becomesnew faith target in the commodity economy. But decided by the inherentfeature of commodity economy, human being has to realize his self valuablesthrough material labor and material form. The third change happened in thefaith's objective result which means human being alienated in the nosacredness after being alienated in the sacredness. In the religion, humanbeing 42<...
