The Double-Scope Integration Networks And The Grammatical Blending Of BA Constructions

Since 1924 Li Jinxi proposed the theory of "prepositional object" from the perspective of syntactic structure for the first time, the research toward BA constructions has been in full swing. The research of BA constructions from grammatical perspective has dominated the research of BA constructions these years. Most researchers have paid too much attention to the syntactic form of BA constructions and neglect the semantic meaning on which the deep-structure relies. There are few researchers who try to disclose the mystery of generating and understanding BA constructions from the cognitive perspective. Yet the hardest nut in the research of BA constructions, that is, the relationship between the syntactic form and semantic meaning of BA construction still remains uncracked.Language is a powerful culturally developed means of creating and transmitting blending schemes. These language forms which have been studied under the term "syntax" are exceptionally complex. So the study is essentially incomplete if we do not simultaneously study the blending scheme for which these language forms prompt. So we should also study the blending scheme while we are studying language forms.This is right the focus of my paper, that is, to study the grammatical blending of the syntactic structure and cognitive structure of BA constructions.I will use the double-scope integration networks proposed by Fauconnier to discuss the grammatical blending process of the syntactic structure and the caused to change cognitive scheme of BA construction.Through the discussion of the construction of double-scope integration networks, its classification criterion and classification, working mechanism, the scalar relationship in VP C of predicate in Input Mental Space2, the relationship between each type of double-scope integration networks of BA constructions based on the causer-causee relationship and the scalar relationship in predicate, the scalar relationship in predicate for each type of double-scope integration networks of BA constructions and a special case this paper has made the relationship between syntactic structure and semantic meaning clear, displayed the grammatical blending process of the syntactic structure and caused to change cognitive scheme of BA construction, and point out the direction for further research.
