In the Tang Dynasty, poems for Chinese paintings emerged, which were results of poems sing paintings evolving in the Six Dynasties, and were promoted by booming of poetry and painting. Although during the Tang and Five Dynasties, few poems for Chinese painting, which were in a narrow sense, namely poems inscribed on paintings, have arose, great majority of the Tang Dynasty poems for Chinese painting was in a broad sense. The Tang Dynasty poems for paintings showed different features in different periods: In the early Tang Dynasty, poems for paintings showed poets' conscious commenting paintings sense, so we can think that poems sing paintings have became real poems for paintings in this period; In the peak period of Tang Dynasty, poems for mountain-and-waters paintings were more than poems for other paintings; In the middle and late Tang Dynasty, more and more people enjoy writing the special poem, at the same time few poets started to inscribe poems on others' or his own paintings. The Tang Dynasty poems for paintings opened up the way to maturity of poems for paintings.A commenting pattern, drawing an analogy between paintings and true, can be induced from commenting techniques in poems for paintings. True means both natural aesthetic feeling and unity appearance and spirit, therefore it means vitality in a certain sense. In the Tang Dynasty poems for paintings, true has different connotation varying paintings: true means spirit in figure paintings; in flower-and-bird paintings, true means potential energy and vitality; and in mountains-and-waters paintings, it means real scenery. Some factors caused the commenting pattern: poems sing paintings in Six Dynasties, acts appreciating paintings, analogy tradition in Chinese poetry, and so on.Aesthetic time and space in the Tang Dynasty poems for paintings is a complicated that showed ancient poets' aesthetic conceptions about time and space of physics and painting art. In the Tang Dynasty poems for mountains-and-waters paintings, aesthetic time is eternal and surrealism; and aesthetic space is broad and embodying. They reflect poets' life sense and an ideal dreaming freedom. When we appreciate the Tang Dynasty poems for mountains-and-waters paintings, we can know that variety of aesthetic time and space made poets intend to be a hermit, while they felt perplexed.Poets commenting paintings in the Tang Dynasty use poems interpreting color, composition, calligraphy technique of paintings etc. So the relationship between poems and paintings is using poems interpreting paintings. However, the relationship in few poems is different from that. In a conclusion, in the Tang Dynasty poems for paintings, poems and paintings didn't corporate successfully.In Tang Dynasty, poets composed many styles poems commenting paintings, including regulated verses, which made poems and paintings cooperate successfully. It was in Tang Dynasty that poets have started to inscribe poems on others' or his own paintings, and created many commenting techniques. Du Fu, Bai Juyi and Liu Shang, the three important poets in the Tang Dynasty set three examples in composing poems commenting paintings. So it is can be concluded that poets of the Tang Dynasty opened up the way to maturity of poems for paintings.
