| There is no literary and art without image. Artistic charm rests with the power of literary or artistic images. The study of image plays a important role in literary study. And the methods in the Imagology of the Comparative Literature can open a new field of the study of image. This paper penetrates SanMao,s works just from the perspective of imagology, which is still not touched upon by the critics. This kind of practice will not only exploit text operation aspect in the developing Chinese Imagological Studies but also supplement theory of Xiang in Chinese traditional Literature; moreover, it will also provide a different perspective for the study of SanMao at home and abroad, rectifying misplacements and misinterprets among SanMao interpretations so as to get a better understanding of sanMao, as well as a better aesthetic grasping of her texts. The whole article consists of the five parts. Part I introduces the present studies on SanMao's works with a clear aim, in the meantime, puts forward the author's theoretical frame of SanMao Study: the interpretation of Foreign Imagoloy, specifies the limits of SanMao,s foreign images and the three interpretative aspects: Cultural Context Interpretation, Total Interpretation and Text Interpretation. Part â…¡and part â…¢ analysis the types and the functions of SanMao,s foreign images in terms of Cultural context interpretation and total interpretation. On its type, these images cover a transition from ideological images to Utopian images and a return from the latter to the former. The successful transition and return established SanMao,s reputation among history of contemporary literature. On its function, these images speak the self as well as the silent other. Therefore they aren`t the duplication of foreign reality, but are restricted by many gazing factors. The two parts also aims at restoring to a complex self-image or a portrait of Taiwan more or less, which was deeply hidden behind SanMao,s foreign images.Part â…£and part â…¤ mainly belong to text interpretation, analysis SanMao,s image and the reception of SanMao respectively. It probes of the significance and value to analysis the leading role "I" in SanMao,s works and the authoress, SanMao .The analysis of SanMao,s particular style can reach an deep understand of her foreign images and their sensational effects. The two parts also aims at revealing the aesthetic taste and the earnestly desire of a given group under given historical cultural context.The conclusion puts SanMao in a proper place on history of contemporary literature. In the meantime, the theoretical significance on SanMao,s imagological analysis is set forth not only does provide new aesthetic meaning on SanMao Study but also it offers a few commonplace remarks by way of introduction so that others may come up with valuable opinions to deepen the research of foreign images in Chinese Literature. |
