The article researches the aesthetic taste of modern and postmodern in contemporary painting of china about the urban culture and analyze how contemporary artists in china use artistic language to expound modern psychological crisis. It also explores great efforts these artists have made in searching for the way to find a solution to modern psychological crisis.The whole essay is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses the theoretic basis of contemporary painting of china about the urban culture. Through cognition of modern and postmodern, the article expounds the intimate linkage between modern and postmodern and urban culture. The second chapter studies the urban modernism of contemporary painting of china, and the anxious of contemporary artists about the modern crisis comprising of four aspects: Firstly, that "people feel most lonely in the crowd "will eventually bring on the emotional crisis; Secondly, negativity of popular culture will result in moral crisis; thirdly, the dual crisis of life and spirit of people in fringe living state exists due to the combination of fringe language and popular culture.; last, the collision of traditional culture and urban culture result in the particular psychological state. The third chapter discusses the contemporary artists are faced with the predicament difficult when they illustrate urban modern state. Meanwhile this part also debates how contemporary artists solve the above problems.
