An Analyse About The Tragic Sense Of Li He's Poems

Li He is one of the most famous poets in Tang Dynasty. His poems have been known popularly for their sorrow, mystery and sadness etc. for thousands of years. Li He lived in mid-Tang Dynasty. At that time wars, job failures, illnesses and many other things made his life miserable. These circumstances led Li He to developing deeper feelings about the suffering of life more than any other poets in his time. Therefore, Li He put many tragic senses into his poems. So this thesis will discuss and analyze the tragic senses of Li He's poems in four ways.At first, the thesis discusses the author's definition and the conception of the tragic sense on the preface, and then discusses the tragic sense of Li He's poem in three chapters. In chapter 1, the author analyzes the sources of the tragic sense: the social sources, the psychological sources, the character sources and the befall sources. In chapter 2, the author talks about the expression of the tragic sense. This tragic sense is expressed in four ways: the tragic image "similar to me" the illusive idea "beyond me" the escape complex "without me" and the regular tendency of committing suicide. In chapter 3, the author analysis the aesthetic factors of the tragic sense: that is, the use of illness, sorrow, coldness, ugliness and oddity as beauty. From these factors, we can see, Li He's poems are tying to express one fact: Li He is struggling to be more useful in the society, but he is not able to succeed. In another words, Li He's tragic sense reflects his real tragic life.The innovation of the article is that it is the first time that a study of Li He's poems with the theory of tragic sense, by the knowledge of aesthetics and psychics has been made. The author uses this method to avoid studying literature with literature. At the same time, trying to find the essential thing about the tragic sense of Li He's poems can provide some basic materials for the coming pursuers in this area.
