New Opinions On The Consciousness Of Literature

The Chinese Consciousness of Literature has been an important problem in the literature history, the Literary criticism history and the aesthetic history .To define its substance can be great helpful to the comprehension of literature, to make the development of literature more clear and through light on modern literature. The thesis puts forward full ideas about the consciousness of literature from a new angle, which is based on former study and criticism. Chinese Consciousness of Literature is not just a concept, but a long course from Wei and Jin Dynasties to Qi and Liang Dynasties in Chinese history. First, it is the result of the internal substance of literature's change and development. Furthermore, the construction of the authors' individual personality and the change of their thinking in writing push the Consciousness of literature on. Finally, XIAO Gang's court poetry, which pursuit static emotion in beautiful images, represents the birth of belles-lettres and the Consciousness Ox" Literature in China.The thesis can be divided five parts. The first part simply looks back the arguments on the Chinese Consciousness of Literature in the 20thcentuty, then puts forward my own opinion based on the famous lecture, Wei Jin Demeanors and Drug and alcohol, given by Lu Xun, regards the Consciousness of Literature as a complicate history course. The course includes the Liberation of Literature and the Consciousness of Literature, from Han Dynasties to Qi and Liang Dynasties.The second part of the thesis discusses the Liberation of Literature through the development of Fu in Han Dynasties. Comparing Qu Yuan's Lisao with Song Yu's Fu, we can find out that there is a breakthrough, changing expression emotion in literature to description subjects. The breakthrough promotes the formation of the style Fu and its prosperity in Xi Han, which leads three important results in Chinese literature history. First, there came out many professional authors that writing Fu; second, the authors describe all kinds of subjects and create a new world in literature; third, the author's professional writing promotes their ability and skills, those became the particular operating percepts of literature. In a word, all the three points embody that literature separated from original culture, shaped different characters from other arts, history andphilosophy. From then on, literature became an independent faculty and realized its liberation.The third part discusses the literati's individual personality and the change of their thoughts during writing, and all the discussion is at the background of "the awakening of man" in Chinese history. Cao Zhi in Jian'an, Ji Kang in Wei Dynasty and Tao Yuanming in East-Jin Dynasty are all famous writers, after comparison ,we can find out that the contradiction between politic and literature in their heart is slowly disappearing, to Tao Yuanming, he is a real and calm literati. Literature became their soul's new paradise.The forth part carries out my argument from the inconsistency between XIAO Gang brothers' theory and practice, then analyzes the new changes in literature theory and practice at that time. XIAO Gang and his brothers all emphasized the expression of emotions is very fundamental in literature writing, and they almost keep away from the viewpoints of Confucianism about literature. Writing in Qi and Liang Dynasties embodies authors' great interesting to the principle of literature form and their excellent skills. XIAO Gang's court poetry put calm emotion in beautiful images, and he enjoys his thoughts and sensibility in literature. All of this proofed the birth of belles-lettres and the reality of the Consciousness of Literature in Chinese history.
