The idea of popular culture arose in the 1920-30s, however, the theorist of the earlier period, including Leavisism and Frankfurt school mostly maintained the judgmental position of the elitism to the popular culture. The study of the popular culture had the strong political implication from the beginning, however, which is not the most obviously characteristic of culture and art. In the 1950s,the British cultural studies made contact with the daily life of the public, emphasizing that culture was a kind of overall life style, which existed in our all social practice. Under their influence, the researchers of all countries start to notice what brings about the popular culture and its relationship with the social activities, and to make a sound judgment about the popular culture. Based on this foundation, this paper thinks, as a kind of social practice, the emergence of popular culture accompanies the industrialization and urbanization of modern society, and is developed on the basis of the daily life of the common public to realize the aesthetic practice of the daily life.The popular culture and modernity have the deep and inside connection. The secularization of the modern society conceives the popular culture. The secularization of the modern society is represented distinctively in the following two aspects: the downfall of the political ideology and the arrogation of the money ideology. The modern senses formed in the this process attach great importance to the daily life and individual existence, which affect the contents and form of culture, The variety of the modern social structure and the people's mental structure has changed the people's life style, the way of thinking and feeling, which results in the change of the people's interest and the art forms. The secularization of the modern society leads to popularization of the people's aesthetic judgment (standard) and interest. The popular culture stands in the public's position, emphasizing the existence condition of the individual, identifying with the public's way of existence and their values, clarifying the current existence of the public with civilian conception and language, thus forming the public's own cultural type of art outside the rebel of the elite culture and the integration of the mainstream culture.As an important way of aesthetic appreciation to modern people, the popular culture is based on the perceptual existence of the modern people. To the modern society, the secularization is an aspect, but the aesthetics is another aspect. The basic connotation of aesthetic modernity includes two meanings: making people the center, perceptual existence the reality. As the connotation of the modern life, aesthetics is the modern people's way of felling and existence. The person's perceptual existence and the prevalence of aesthetic spirit in modern society are the most basic affirmation that people make to themselves which is also the closest to the reality. The person's existence state is the root of existence of art, and the popular culture, as the main cultural form of the modern society, also originates from the person's realistic existence experience, and is the result and reflection of the popularization of modern aesthetic spirit and fully expresses the perceptual existence of the modern people. To revert to the original meaning of aesthetics as the study of perceptual world provides an important basis for the existence of the popular culture, and the rise of the popular culture further breaks the limitation of the traditional aesthetics. The popular culture commits itself to physical concentration on the person's realistic perceptual existence, satisfying the people's need of aesthetic pursuit in a pleasantly perceptual way, thus adapting to the new variety of the modern human nature structure. It is the reflection of the person's existence circumstances, where the people also acquire the aesthetic existence.
