The practice of online TCFL (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) is one of the important approaches to achieve the global development in TCFL. In order to improve the distance teaching service and better meet the demands of the students, the study and analysis on the information of the online students is conducted. EBLCU is the only professional web platform in the worldwide which provides the online degree-program in learning Chinese as a foreign language. Since its formally launching in October 2001, EBLCU has attracted countless visitors, among which more than 210 students have paid for the course and about 10,000 persons have registered as the prospective student of EBLCU. Therefore, it is of typical meaning and practical value to study and analyze the information of the online students. The research and analysis of this paper is carried out according to the quite important opinions and advice given by the involved experts in an expert symposium held 3 years after the formal launch of EBLCU, with the great support and help of the teaching department of teaching Chinese as a foreign language of the Network Education College.In this thesis, the formal students (who have paid the course) and the prospective students (who have registered with EBLCU without payment) are taken as the main objects for study, with questionnaire together with Excel data statistic as the main research method. Some feasible suggestions are offered in this thesis through the analysis with concrete data on the status quo, achievements and existing problems of the online students of EBLCU, which may provide beneficial reference for many websites engaging in TCFL (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) with EBLCU as the respective.This thesis is divided into the following 6 chapters:Chapter 1: Describe the significance and existing problems of the online TCFL, as well as offer the necessity of conducting analysis on the online students of EBLCU.Chapter 2: Give a brief introduction of the present study on the distance Chinese learners at home and abroad, and make a contrastive analysis on the situation and features of the existing website engaging TCFL.Chapter 3: Investigate and make a contrastive analysis on the formal students (who have paid the course) and prospective students (who have registered with EBLCU without payment) at the aspects of region, nationality, rising trend, course selection etc., which set up the basis for further study.Chapter 4: Researches and analyzes the paid-students by questionnaire and data Statistic and analysis in such parts as the courses learned, the need of the courses and the services, the attitude to the course and service and so on.Conduct the investigation and statistic analysis on the prospective students (who have registered with EBLCU without payment) at many aspects, including course selection, evaluation on the courseware, demand for the courseware, wanted service, evaluation on the service of EBLCU, hardware setups of the students, opinions and advice for the online Chinese learning and face-to-face teaching.Chapter 5: Research the enrolled-students through questionnaire, analysis by data and statistic the reason why they haven't chosen the courses of EBLCU to learn.Conduct the investigation and statistic analysis on the prospective students (who have registered with EBLCU without payment) at many aspects, including personal information, demand for Chinese learning, evaluation on the existing online courses and present distance teaching service, advice and demand for the tuition of EBLCU etc.Chapter 6: Give a summary of all the work done in this thesis, some feasible suggestions and primary blueprint for the future are also offered.
