The difficulty of speaking tasks has recently become a topic of investigation in language testing and has been regarded as a test method facet. This article discusses task difficulty in Chinese speaking test based on an ACTFL OPI model and tries to establish a hierarchy of task difficulty from a new perspective. It also aims to improving the reliability and validity of OPI and similar speaking tests, providing reference for task-based SLA teaching indirectly as well as offering a new method for analyzing task difficulty in speaking tests.
