Zhang Hu was one of the famous poets who lived in Middle and LateTang Dynasty . More than four hundred pieces of his poems were collectedinto the 'Whole Volume Tang Poems'. Not only the subjects of his poemswere multiple and abundant , but also the styles of his poems were intelligentand diversified . His palace poems and lyric poems had a great deal of goodreputation at that time and formed their own style in Middle and Late TangDynasty .However, he did not obtain enough approval and attention from academiccircles for a long time . The research on Zhang Hu has made a large progressin recent years , but most of them put emphasis on his life stories instead of thethematic contents and artistic style of his poems . Based on the research madeby predecessors, this article aims to analyze the thematic contents and artisticstyles of Zhang Hu' s poems in order to display his special artistic style andunique artistic achievement .A. Life StoryZhang Hu enjoyed poetic reputation when he was young, but because ofhis dissolute and indulgent personalities, he led a vagrant life. When heentered his middle age, he was busy running about his career, but heexperienced much frustration. From then on, he lived in seclusion and foundsustenance in beautiful sceneries. He settled down in Danyangquer when hewas old and died as a hermit.B.
