Translation studies have undergone their cultural turn since 1990s', which has pushed the subjectivity of translation to the foreground, where the subjectivity of the translator becomes a new subject and the role of the translator is revaluated and reexamined. Noticeably, the role of the translator-her status, translation choices and strategies-becomes the focus in current studies on translational subjectivity. Though both the translator and the poet are the producers of a production, the standpoint of the translator, due to the disparity between the nature of poetry and that of translation, diverges from that of the poet. Consequently, the studies on the roles of the translator in translating poetry are of both theoretic and practical significance, particularly in a context of globalization and pluralistic cultures. They are also of necessity, since translation studies as a discipline developed recently from applied linguistics call for investigations and researches which have been thereby scanty.Thus, the thesis firstly makes a survey of the literature on translation studies and translator at home and abroad to help outline the development of theoretical trends and to locate the point of departure for the arguments. Secondly, it initiates its arguments from the divergent standpoints between the poet and the translator, elaborates poetics or literariness of language in the original poem which distinguishes itself from the informative language in the translated.
