And specially hereafter 80's of 20th century, many authorities have classed and assembled The Memoir of Ming Dynasty very cosmically and systematically, to have made the value of it more effectively, such as the issuance of the large-scale data-base of The Memoir of Ming Dynasty by New Century Taiwan Central Research Institute has brought much convenience to the researchers.At the same time, it is criticized that the works, The Memoir of Ming Dynasty, lay particular stress on recording political affairs and systems but not the matters of society and economy. After checking and studying the works seriously, I think that we should have entirely acquaintanceship with its value of historical materials and literature and specially with its abundant historical materials about society and economy, and this is how the text comes into being, whose chief contents includes four parts as follows.In Part 1,I discussed and summarized the general situation that the domestic and international historians studied on the works.In Part 2,I discoursed upon the works' original compilation, and its reediting and anthology production by the academia of modern times and their historical meaning.In Part 3, according to studying on Anhui's historical records volume of the works, I edited special historical materials about Anhui region, and illustrated the works' function and meaning to studying region history and special history, and also demonstrated its abundant historical materials.In Part 4,I expatiated its value of literature learning by analyzing and sumed up its historical meaning to philology, including emendating, textual research, and compilation.
