Medium: Analysis Of Inherent Structure On Adorno's Critical Theory Of Culture Industry

This paper analysis and emphasize that medium is very important in the inherent structure of Adorno's culture industry.The author thinks that Adorno's medium theory and negative dialectic have the same abstract structure.Adorno's philosophical center is negative dialectic.Negative and dialectic is two premise of Adorno's theory.Persisting in dialectic makes Adorno's critical theory of culture industry form the dialectical constellations which is on the basis of medium.Medium is the force field of conflict between subject and object,general and special,identity and unidentity.Constellations and force field are Adorno's metaphor.They express that every element affect each other.And the element is the relation of medium.The relation lets us understand the dialectical constellations of Adorno's critical theory of culture industry.That is to say,medium is the nuclear category of dialectical constellations.Adorno's critical theory of culture industry is full of dialectical constellations:dialectic of subject and object,functionalism dialectic,enlightenment dialectic and so on.Adorno's medium theory and dialectic of subject and object is coterminous,which is the philosophy of Adorno's critical theory of culture industry.In the functionalism dialectic,technology is the medium and the reification of the medium.Adorno rethinks of the technology and furthers the thought of reason of the tool.He indicates that culture society takes on the retralessence of enlightenment dialectic.Enlightment dialectic as medium is the force field of development and regression.Through watching the history and reality,enlightment dialectic shows that he criticize the culture industry historically.
