A Study On The Kunshan Dialect

This is a preliminary study on the Kunshan dialect. It is formed of two parts. The first part describes the phonetic system and its characters and the Kunshan tone sandhi, and then compares the Kunshan dialect to the dialects of neighbouring ears. Through comparison some regularyties may show the characters of the north Wu dialects.The second part includes the comparison of the words between the dialects of Kunshan and neighbouring ears, and a glossary of Kunshan monosyllables, in which, some are used in Shanghai or Suzhou, but some are only used in Kunshan.
