D · H · Lawrence is a renowned writer and poet of England in the first half of 20th century. His novel described vividly the relationship between person and nature, person and person, person and self which was disassimilated by the development, while the development happened in western modern industrial civilization between the intermediate time of 19th century and at the beginning of 20th century. Watanabe Junichi is a renowned writer of Japan. His novel displayded emphatically, in modern society, the oscillation of the Japaneses middle age and the conflict between the human nature and the ethic or morality of the modern society. The two writers, both writing from the relationship between female and male, promulgated the person's desire which was oppressed by the modern civilization. Watanabe Junichi, discriding at the medical angle, proved the rationality of the person's instinctive desire. Although the two writers were in different regions and at different times, the close social backgrounds and particular attentions make their novels similarities, that is, their novels have similar viewpoints. The fictions of Lawrence and Watanabe Junichi have great similitudes in many aspects, such as the narrative manner, the narrative angle and the expression means. Paying attention to portray the psychology of character and describing the details, the clear language are also the narrative characteristics of their novels.However, there are also great differences in the similitudes. These similitudes and differences of the narrative arts of the two writers are caused by the social historical conditions, cultural context and the religious ideas of the East and the West. And the different personal experience of the two writers also had the great influences on their creations.
