There have been many different understandings of structure characteristics on the plot of " Romance of the Three Kingdoms ". Some people held idea that it represents linear structure. Based on the clarification on the definition of "plot", the paper subdivided "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" according to the plot and describes the structure characteristics on the' basis of the subsection on the plot. The paper is divided into four parts. Part one is preface, which combs the definition of "plot" and make preparation for the next part in theory. Part two is the subdivision of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and expounds the method of subsection on the plot. Part three is the summary, which illuminates structure characteristics on the plot of" Romance of the Three Kingdoms " and describes the total structure characteristics by analyzing all of the plots. Part four is the remaining conclusion, which makes a simple analysis on the other outcomes drawn by subdividing the plot.Through analysis, we find that structure characteristics on the plot of " Romance of the Three Kingdoms in fact represent a kind of " rope form". Three countries ofWei,Shu and Wu were mutually developed by three lines which is neither paralleled nor simple crossing, but presenting twining form. No matter in big units or in little ones of plots, so they are.It has been a new attempt to illustrate structure characteristics on the plot of the novel based on subsection of the plot. The method not only rather obviously and objectively combs the venation on the plot, but also spurs a light on developing the theory in novel.
