The ancient translation study has experienced a history of thousands of years and has exerted enormous influence on the evolution of society and culture. Nowadays with the advent of globalization, translation has become a more important means of cultural exchange and communication. Historically, the traditional translation study focused mainly on the analysis of linguistic transformation and put the principle of "faithfulness to the original" in the first place. In the static text-centered studies, the translation subjectivity has been almost completely neglected and the translator was subjected to a subordinate position. It is because translating practice both in China and the West starts with the translation of religious works which are sacred and allow no changes that absolute faithfulness to the source text is required. The author and the source text are promoted to be the authentic judge. Therefore the translator's subjective initiative is neglected.The cultural turn in translation study has brought out the translator's subjectivity to surface and the research of this issue has developed from being neglected to the confirmation of translator's choices, until it has become a hot issue in translation study at present. Chinese critics also began to carry out the research in the 1990s. However, these researches cover this issue mainly from the perspectives of the literary style, personality and qualities of the translator, but seldom discuss it from the perspective of inter-subjectivity. Realizing the phenomenon, the thesis makes an attempt at the discussion of the translator's subjectivity through the inter-subjectivity.The thesis consists of four chapters in addition to an introduction and a conclusion.
