The translator's subjectivity is of vital importance to successful and superior translation in one special field: foreign publicity. However, there has been limited academic research in this aspect. This thesis, on the basis of translation process, intends to examine the translator's subjectivity in the three phases of foreign publicity translation: the translator's understanding of source text, his rendering the ST into the target text, and his revision of the TT. The translator's subjectivity is most evident in the translator's understanding of translation brief, his choice of full or partial translation, his claim and concession in polysystem, his treatment of the cultural words, and his manipulation of domestication and foreignization. Towards the end of the thesis, it is made clear that the realization of translator's subjectivity may be influenced by various factors.
