Tang Wenzhi, whose academic thoughts has a strong traditional implication aswell as a special era characteristic, is a famous scholar in recent years.Tang Wenzhi's academic thoughts mainly includes: The gradually influences ofthe Taitsang academic environment, the traditional influence of Neo-Confucianismgoverns, teachers and friends' influence, the immersing of sub-study and the westernlearning as well as the family study educational influence. These factors expandedTang Wenzhi's vision of academic field, established his Neo-Confucianismacademic tendency, and also led his academic thoughts to present the characteristicwhich governed consciousness and included all kinds of thoughts together.In the study of the research aspect, Tang Wenzhi mainly stresses the FiveClassics research in "the book of songs", "the Book of Changes" and three "Ritual",but to "Shangshu" and "Spring and Autumn Period" the explanation then relative arefew. Tang Wenzhi also has received special training, but he pays great attention to YuDuijing and supplies with researching method. Moreover, Tang Wenzhi also attachesmore attention on proving sutras by each other and tries to use Confucianism for hisstudying. Tang Wenzhi's study on the four books mainly stresses on the explanationsof Mencius and dig the meaning of the four books ethically and morally as a wholewhich show the feature of basing Zhu Xi's "explanations on Selected sentences ofFour Books"At the aspect of Neo-Confucianism, with the traditional and realistic influence,Tang Wenzhi always study from the ethic and mainly based on Zhu's ethic and alsofrom Lu Wang's. Tang Wenzhi's Neo-Confucianism research, does not crave intothe cosmic production changing discussion, but in humanist. He explains repeatedlyby the standard principle but returns the theory which the various consciences putsto practices what one preaches cultivates to the mind and soul.Under the severe reality of China's Falling behind, Tang Wenzhi found theadvantage of learning from the Western culture to brace up China. Therefore, he triedhis best to spread the idea of learning from the west and develop the industrialeducation. Meanwhile, Tang Wenzhi also saw the crisis caused from traditionalculture and take the responsibility for protecting Confucianism and dealt with therelationship between China and Western countries through the thought of "Centerd onChinese culture while using western culture"Tang Wenzhi's academic study rooted from and ended in the idea of "to rightenpeople's will to rescue people's lives" and gradually turned into action. It is obviousthat, with his passion for charity and dedication to the educational cause,TangWenzhi's academic research is showed and applied to the social practice.To conclude, Tang Wenzhi's academic research is based on ethic and combinedwith other schools of thoughts. He attaches more attention on moral education andapplies to reality, above all, aiming at "righten people's will and rescue people's lives".But in the situation of the society's tempestuous changes, culture has tended to takeon a new look. Tang Wenzhi still insists on using traditional ideas to deal with realisticdifficulties which show his positive experienced consciousness as well as hisconservation and stubbornness.
