We used match task to investigate orientation's effect on face perception. Linear effect was found between RT and display angles when we changed configural information, which indicated the normalization mechanism of configural information was mental rotation. Meanwhile, the normalization mechanism of feature information seemed to be a combination of mental rotation and mental flip from the finding of this study. When compared to cognition of house pictures, we found that face cognition featured in holistic processing. We also found subjects' cognitive strategy and standard stimulus used in match task had effects on perception of disoriented faces.
