Application Of Fractal In Art Design

Fractal is a new branch of the science form the area of nonlinear inthe twenty century , it can describe roughness and irregular geometricshapes in the nature or in non-linear system. Fractal is widely used inmany fields such as the image data compression , simulation of naturalscenery, Fractal geometry's growing and the researcher of chaos motilitysystem and so on. Based on IFS codes and the algorithm of IFS , thefractal pictures of Sierpinski triangle, fractal mountain, fractal tree,three-dimensional leaves and so on are simulated by VB programming.Fractal theory is extensive applied to many fields, such as mathematics,physics, chemistry, material science, biology and medicine, geography,earthquake and astronomy, computer science and so on Fractal art as aperfect combination of science and art is a special application of thefractal system. Fractal art has been a wide and important topic, but it isonly discussed about the technology. So it can not attract enough attention from the artists, just stop in the step of enjoyment and evaluation and is lack of deeply analysing, summarizing, clarifying and concluding the thinking and creation theory of fractal art, even more the fractal art design theory and its application.In consequence, the research on fractal theory has both importanttheoretical significance and extensive applied value. This article firstlywrites something about the history and basic theory , and summarize thatfractal art is a kind of digital designs born in non-substance world. Fractalart as a visual art is similar with the traditional art in creation rules, formprinciples and aesthetic methods. But fractal art has its owncharacteristics such as self-similarity, enlacing and nesting features. Thenthis article gives an drawing explanation of the fractal art software ,especially the using method of the KPT5 filter in Photoshop and somefractal art patterns drawn by this software. At last this article tells someapplications of fractal art using in web interface, digital movie, decorationart, textile and virtual reality designs.
